American Lobster Habitat Under Climate Change: A Species Distribution Model
This study uses Species Distribution Modeling (SDM) to predict how climate change will affect American Lobster (Homarus americanus) habitat in the Gulf of Maine. Using 104,630 occurrence records from OBIS and the Brickman oceanographic model, I trained a MaxEnt model to map present and future habitat suitability. Results show that under high emissions (RCP 8.5), lobster habitat will shift northward by 2075, with implications for fisheries management and coastal communities.
