Lab 6: Exploring Airbnb Spatial and Market Patterns in New York City
This interactive dashboard examines how Airbnb listings are distributed and priced across New York City. It focuses on three key questions: 1. Where are Airbnb listings concentrated across the city? 2. Which room types are the most expensive on average? 3. Which boroughs have the highest number of listings? The analysis highlights that Airbnb activity is heavily concentrated in central Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, reflecting proximity to tourist attractions and accessibility to major transit networks. Median price patterns reveal clear affordability differences across room types, while borough-level comparisons illustrate uneven spatial concentration of short-term rentals. This project demonstrates how spatial data visualization can help planners and policymakers understand the dynamics of short-term rentals and their potential implications for housing affordability and urban livability.
