Crimes Against Women
This analysis examines crimes against women in India from 2001-2021 using official data across 36 states. Total reported cases reached 4,867,722, with Domestic Violence accounting for 39.24% of all incidents. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest crimes (2,843,264 cases), while Lakshadweep reported the lowest (171 cases). Reported crimes increased by 152.5% over the two-decade period, with 2014 being the worst year. ANOVA confirmed statistically significant differences in crime rates across all states (p < 0.001). Strong correlations exist between Rape and Assault on Women (0.804) and Rape and Kidnapping (0.701). All crime distributions are highly right-skewed, indicating most states report low cases with few extreme outliers. Outliers range from 5.57% in Rape cases to 11.41% in Kidnapping cases. Regression analysis predicts continued upward trends through 2025. These findings highlight urgent need for targeted interventions in high-risk states and integrated crime prevention strategies.
