Health/Economic Impacts of Extreme Weather Conditions in the US
In this paper, we use the NOAA Storm Database to examine how severe weather occurrences affect the economy and public health. To assess the effects on public health, we sum all injuries and fatalities in the United States. We compute overall property and agricultural financial losses to assess economic harm. According to our research, floods cause the greatest financial and economic destruction, while tornadoes result in the greatest total number of fatalities.
