An analysis of the NOAA Storm Events database (1950-2011) to identify which severe weather event types are most harmful to population health (fatalities and injuries) and which cause the greatest economic damage (property and crop losses). Tornadoes are found to cause the most health impact, while floods cause the greatest economic damage.
